Kakani Hiking
Kakani is one of the few hill stations located at a close proximity to Kathmandu, being just 28 km off to the northwest. Due to the ease of accessibility, it has been the first choice of people in Kathmandu who want to breathe a fresh air for some time. Kakani is a popular destination for team and family events such as short hiking, cycling and picnic.Northwestern Himalayan ranges such as Ganesh Himal (7,111m), Manaslu (8,163m), Gaurishankar (7,134m) and Annapurna I (8,091m) are visible from Kakani. You can also enjoy the beautiful view of Kathmandu valley from a height of 2030 meters (6060 ft).
Thai Airways Memorial Park, built in the memory of the 113 passengers who died in an airplane crash nearby in 1992 is worth visiting. There is another park, International Mountaineers Memorial Park established in the honor of the mountaineers who lost their lives during their expeditions. There are several hotels and resorts to rest for a night so that you can enjoy the sunrise and clear views of the mountains in the early morning.
