Druk Path Trekking
The Druk path, which was once closed to the outer visitors by Bhutanese Government is now open for everyone to explore. Now anyone can grab the opportunity to capture the breathtaking beauty of Bhutan. We can explore their unique culture and landscape. Druk path has its own significance for its classic, alluring view of mountains, charming and enchanting bushes of Rhododendrons. Druk path has strange trails that remain windy most of the time. The view of historical forts is one of the attractions of Bhutan.
Day 01: Paro airport Our team will receive you at the Paro International airport and after brief introduction of ourselves, you will be transferred to a rated hotel.
Day 02: Paro sightseeing Today we will be roaming within the Paro city by observing the breathtaking view of snowcapped mountains and eye catching view of Rhododendron trees. There are many monasteries, fortresses and Buddhist temples that we will visit selectively at your choice. You will stay in the hotel during the night.
Day 03: Paro- Taktsang Our guide will lead you above the Paro valley to have a fine look of Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The trail from the main road takes a good walker about 3 hours to reach there and one and half hours to come down. People who are unable to climb can use ponies to reach faster and easier.
Day 04: Paro- Jele Dzong Next day we set our journey towards the Jele Dzong. It is at 2576 meters above the sea level and just seven kilometers from Paro Valley. We will be crossing the Jele La Pass at 3400 meters altitude. We will have alluring view of snowcapped mountains and the Paro valley. Your overnight stay arrangement will be made there in tented camps.
Day 05: Jele Dzong- Jangchulakha On this day, we will move further towards Jangchu Lakha. It will be a 10 km walk from Jele Dzong to Jangchu Lakha which is 2879 meters above the sea level. During this journey, we will pass through thick alpine forest of rhododendron and pine trees.
Day 06: Jangchulakha- Jimilangtso Today we will continue our path that will lead us to Jimilangtso. If the day is clear you can give a look at beautiful mountains and the valley. Our camp will be close to Lake Jimilangtso. These lakes are known for the giant sized touts found there. There you can enjoy the great views of Jichu Drake, the peak representing the protective deity of Paro and Gangkar Puensum (7497m), the highest mountain of Bhutan. Your overnight camp will be at the altitude of 3870m.
Day 07: Jimilangtso - Simkota We move from Jimilangtso through long trail of rhododendron trees to Simkota. We ascend to a summit at 4050 meters overlooking Janetsho Lake. Today you may come across some yak herder’s camps and get an idea how these people live. Camping is done close to Simkota Lake. You will spend overnight there at camp at the altitude of 4110m.
Day 08: Simkota- Phajoding We first go up gradually from Simakota crossing Phume La pass (4210m). From there, the trail goes downhill passing along juniper trees to reach Phajoding (2879m). Thimphu town is visible at the valley floor from Phajoding. We will spend the night there in a tented camp.
Day 09: Phajoding- Thimpu On the ninth day, we will move down passing through the dense forests of blue pine. We will reach Thimpu after a 4-hour walk and then have lunch at a hotel. After having lunch, we will be strolling around Thimpu town. You will spend the night at a hotel in Thimpu.
Day 10: Thimpu Sightseeing After having brilliant view of dense forest in Thimpu, our today’s visit includes sightseeing of artistic, traditional, medicinal and historical places of Thimpu. National Library, Traditional Medicine center, Traditional Arts and Crafts of Bhutan, National Folk Heritage Museum, Memorial Chorten and Tashichhodzong are some of the places worth visiting.
Day 11: Thimpu- Punakha/Wangdi Today we will have short journey to Punakha/Wangdi. On the way to Punakha we will have a look at Chimihakhang Temple. This Buddhist temple resides on a round hillock. Capturing the beauty of rice paddies and small village aside, finally we will reach Punakha Dzong located at the confluence of Pho and Mochu River.
Day 12: Departure From Punakha our team leader will drive you to Paro airport and you will be flying towards your homeland after the mesmerizing experience of Druk path trekking in Bhutan. We wish for your safe journey ahead and hope to see you again. |
