Mt Kailash Mansarovar Tour
Mt Kailash(6714 m) is sacred mountain which is situated in far western Tibet. It is considered to be a holy place for three different religions : Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. Like wise the lake Manasarovar is also another religious site that feels the heart of pilgrims with purity, peace and tranquility.
With great divine pleasure, the tour provides us the awe inspiring experience of the pristine beauty and serenity of the two religious sites. However the tour is considered as one of the most challenging yet demanding trek for pilgrims in the world. Due to the stunning beauty and serenity, this place is a famous destination for trekkers from all around the world. With variable and extreme weather condition the journey might be somehow difficult but with proper preparation devout pilgrims and trekkers are able to complete it and in return carry with them a memory of lifetime.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu As soon as you arrive to the airport you will be warmly welcomed by our airport representative and then you will be transferred to one of the hotels. Through a meeting our guides will explain briefly about the 15-day program. You’ll be staying at the hotel.
Day 02: Trek Preparation and Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing This day, we’ll be visiting various world heritage sites situated within Kathmandu valley which includes Kathmandu Durbar square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa. Rest of the day we’ll be packing and also conduct some discussion on program briefing.The same hotel would serve us for the accommodation.
Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Nyalam 3750 m (150 km) This is going to be the first day of our formal tour. After having breakfast we’ll be driving through Bhaktapur and Kavre to reach the Nepal-China border in Kodari. There is a bridge called Friendship Bridge that marks the cross-country border. Here we’ll meet our Tibetan guide. After all the immigration formalities at the Chinese check post here, we’ll be driving almost 3 hours through the up-winding road to Nyalam for 35 km. On our way we’ll be accompanied with beautiful scenery. After we reach there we will be transferred to the guest house in Nyalam (3700m) where we’ll be spending the night.
Day 04: Nyalam – Acclimatization Day We have allocated this day for acclimatization as we are going to cross 5000 meters mark soon. We will be going for short trek that will be more like a preparatory trek that would help us in achieving Kailash Parikrama with ease and confidence. The short trek especially would help us acclimatize faster. During the night, we’ll be staying in a guesthouse.
Day 05: Nyalam – Lalung-La (5050) m Saga – (4450 m) Today we’ll be having our first long drive of about 240km over the sandy and rocky land of Tibet. This will take 6 to 7 hours but on the way, we can enjoy the view of lakes, grazing sheeps, nomads chasing thousands of yaks that would keep us busy all the time. We would spend some time at Lalung-La(the first highest pass) and feel the experience of being at an altitude of 5050 m. Then our trail will lead us continuously on the silk roads crossing nice view of Gaurishankar, Shishapangma and Langtang Himal. We will cross River Brahmaputra (Tibetan name “Yarlung Tsangpo”) to reach Saga. A guesthouse will be managed for the night stay.
Day 06: Saga – Paryang (4600 m.) 185 km After having our breakfast we’ll be driving to Paryang. We’ll have comfortable drive on the plain roads passing through villages and yak herders.The beauty of nature will pursue us continuously throughout the drive as in the far south you can see snow- capped mountain peaks while most of the time the wild lives, farms animals will also be keeping us busy. In Paryang we’ll find an appropriate guesthouse for accommodation
Day 07: Paryang – Mansarovar 4558 m (277 km) A 6-hour long drive will take us to the Holy Mansarovar (14950 ft/4558 m) – the highest lake of fresh water with turquoise complexion in the world which is full of fishes and swans. If we wish we may take a holy bath in this sacred lake. Late afternoon we can also have the first view of Mt. Kailash, Mt, Gurula-Mandala and Lake Rakshash. A suitable guesthouse will be aranged for your accomodation.
Day 08: Mansarovar – Tarchen (40 km)
Mansarovar is the personification of purity, and as per Hindu scriptures, one who dirinks water from the lake, is believed to be cleansed of all his sins accumulated over hundred lifetimes. In the early morning we can complete the morning bath in the holy lake and puja after which we will be heading for Holy Mansarovar Parikrama. If we get enough time, we’ll be visiting Chui Gompa otherwise we’ll head on directly to Tarchen which is the base camp for holy Kailash Parikrama. We’ll spend the night in a tented camp.
Day 09: Tarchen-Tarboche (13km drive)-Dirapuk (4860m) (7km trek) 5 – 6 hrs We’ll have proper breakfast and then start the Kailash parikrama from Tarboche “Ashtapathi”. We’ll enjoy walking along the beautiful rocky cliffs, accompanied by waterfalls at some places. During the parikrama, the face of Kailash Parbat will keep on appearing time and again. It would take two more days to complete the whole Parikrama .We’ll have to set up a tented camp for accommodation.
Day 10: Dirapuk – Zuthulphuk (4760 m) (18 km trek / 9-10 hrs) The second day of parikrama will be started in the early morning as today we’ll be climbing to Dolma-la (Dolma-La 18600 ft) and then we’ll descend gradually to Zuthulphuk (4760m). We’ll come across Yamasthal, Shiva-sthal, Parvati-stal and Gauri Kunda. This is going to be probably the most difficult day of the trek. By late afternoon we will have arrived to Zuthulphuk . Overnight, we’ll settle down in a tented camp.
Day 11: Zuthulphuk – Tarchen (10 km) – Mansarovar By the end of today we’ll have completed the whole Mt Kailash parikrama. In the morning we’ll have free time to explore the caves, temples and shrines around Milarepa cave. Three hours of walk will announce the end of the Parikrama. We’ll be joining the crew members and return back to Manasarovar and spend the night in one of the guesthouses.
Day 12: Drive Mansarovar to Dongba (366 km drive, 8 hours) As we are returning back without much expedition we’ll be driving directly back to Dongba. It will be a 366 km drive that will take 8 hours. We’ll find a guesthouse in Dongba for accommodation.
Day 13: Drive Dongba to Nyalam 376 km, 8 hours After breakfast at the guest house, we’ll drive back to Nyalam. The 8-hour journey would take us through 376 km of spectacular Himalayan landscape. This will probably be the last day in Tibet Overnight we are staying at one of the guesthouses in Nylam.
Day 14: Drive Nyalam to Kathmandu After an early morning breakfast, we’ll be taking a 1.5 hour drive to Zhangmu. Completing the immigration formalities to cross the Friendship Bridge in Kodari Border, we’ll drive back to Kathmandu. If we get sufficient time we may develop the photos taken along the journey, buy some stuffs for you and your relatives or just roam around the city. This will be the last day in Nepal but if you wish you may visit some other places or have some other exciting tours. We’ll be staying at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 15: Transfer to Airport for home departure. You’ll be transferred to Tribhuwan International Airport for onward destination. We’ll be sharing best wishes and goodbyes. |
