Dhulikhel Balthali Hiking
This is another short and refreshing tour package we would like to offer our clients who wish to travel to one of the nearest destinations from the capital. Dhulikhel, a historical town, is situated 30km southeast of Kathmandu, just past the edge of the Kathmandu Valley. At an elevation of 1550m above sea level, Dhulikhel lies just south of the Himalayas. This allows beautiful views of mountains on the backdrop of green hills. Historically, Dhulikhel has been the gateway to Tibet for the traders of Kathmandu. This legacy is still maintained by the Araniko Highway that passes from Kathmandu through Dhulikhel to the Tibetan border, Kodari. Numerous temples and shrines, medieval houses decorated with beautifully crafted windows and doors carry the essence of centuries old Newari architecture.
Balthali is a small village located 45 km southwest of Kathmandu, a 10km drive by road from Dhulikhel. It lies on the foothills of the Mahabharat range, a range of hills spanning east to west parallel to the Himalayas. Natural pine forests coexist beautifully with terraced green paddy fields and traditional houses scattered sparsely. There are several trails that pass through the villages and forests allowing the travellers to enjoy both natural and cultural beauty of this place. The forest is home to a variety of bird species, suitable for nature lovers and bird watchers. Two suspension bridges over deep gorges including one over Roshi river, green paddy fields around, high hills and sub tropical pine forest on the way will make your journey easy and exciting. In addition, our freelancing trekking guide will be explaining about the places around and the use of the trail as an ancient trade way which was used to connect Tibet, Nepal and India.
