Nepal is well known for its biodiversity, socio-cultural, geographical position and altitude variation. The country possesses the unparalleled natural beauty and is famous for trekking, hiking, rafting, jungle safari, sightseeing etc. But besides all this, Nepal is considered to be the spectacular destination in the world for bird watching.
Although Nepal is a small country in terms of its territory and size, but it is blessed with heavenly features such as beautiful natural resources, tropical and subtropical forests, lakes and Himalayan habitats. There are approximately 900 bird species found in Nepal in 27 important bird conservation areas. Among the many bird species, Danphe is regarded as the national bird which is a type of pheasant. 74 species of birds are regarded rare and can be found occasionally. Among those, 32 other species are considered as globally threatened. Below is an extensive list of bird species found in Nepal:

Day1: Day first starts as you arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. Our representatives will be there to pick you up and transfer to a cozy and fine hotel in Kathmandu. At the hotel, our representatives will provide you short briefing about our exciting program and schedules.
Day2: On this day, we will be heading towards Phulchowki which is at an altitude of 2749 meters, near Kathmandu and Godavari Royal Botanical Garden (1525 m) located towards the south-eastern corner of Kathmandu valley. There we will spend full day watching rare and local birds and butterflies.
Day3: On this day, our drive or flight will be from Kathmandu valley to Koshi Tappu, Biratnagar. It is known as the best bird watching destination of Nepal and is also considered as one of the finest birding sites in entire Asia.
Day4: This day, we will be exploring the Koshi Tappu region and enjoy bird watching on foot and in boats. Birds such as: Indian Skimmer, Spot-billed pelican, Black-necked stork, comb duck, white tailed eagle, Caspian tern stork-billed kingfisher, lesser floricans, evening bird and different species of butterflies can be seen. You can even enjoy watching dolphins in Koshi Tappu.
Day5: We drive from Koshi Tappu towards Chitwan for about 9 to 10 hours through the panoramic views and beautiful landscapes. Chitwan National park is the most beautiful park surrounded with endangered birds and animals. After arriving in Chitwan there will be evening jungle activities with good food and accommodation. Tharu cultural program will only add to your enjoyment.
Day6: We are going to enjoy Chitwan jungle view for whole day. For making the day more exciting, there will be elephant and canon ride and other jungle activities with sightseeing of animals and birds. There will be foot walks and ride through jeeps so that the animals, birds and butterflies can be explored clearly and closely. In the evening, there will be arrangements of cultural programs by the local villagers.
Day7: We will continue our bird watching tour through jungle walk, viewing different hosts of astonishing species of birds such as: small pratincole, bee-eater, brown crake, red jungle fowl, red-headed trogon, river lapwing, small minivet, chestnut-crowned, pale-footed etc. You will feel yourself closer to the nature.
Day8: The day starts with driving from Chitwan and heading towards Bardia National park. The park is surrounded with riverine forests of Sal trees. It spans over an area of 968 square kilometers in the western region of Terai. There will be evening jungle activities with spectacular view of the wild flora and fauna and other extra cultural activities.
Day9: We will be having full day jungle activities such as boating on the Karnali for seeing birds. There will be an elephant back safari to explore nature’s most beautiful birds and animals. The local experts and guides will share you a great deal of knowledge regarding birds and wild animals while we drive through the jungle. More bird watching and trekking will be done in the Churia Hills. Tented camps will be provided to spend night surrounded with the beautiful nature.
Day10: The day will start with a good breakfast and we will be exploring the cultural activities of Tharu communities. You can enjoy jungle activities and can have opportunities to encounter with wild animals and birds. There will be rafting in the Karnali river and dolphin sightseeing. In the evening you will enjoy the cultural dance performed by people from local Tharu community.
Day11: We will drive from Chitwan for about two hours to reach Nepalgunj. From there, you can take a flight to Kathmandu. Our representatives will help you to get to the hotel.
Day12: After such a memorable experience, it is now time to say goodbye. Our representatives will transfer you to the Tribhuwan International Airport for departure. |
