Bardia Jungle safari
Bardia National Park is located in the western Terai region of Nepal, covering an area of 968 sq. km. It is one of the largest and least disturbed wilderness spread in the Terai area. The park is covered with Sal forest including tall grasslands. It is surrounded on the north by the Churia hills and on the west by the Geruwa River.This park was established to protect the ecosystems and to conserve endangered animals, especially tiger. Bardia National Park is a home for different endangered species of animals such as rhinoceros, swamp deer, leopard, jungle cats, blue bulls, sloth bear, barking deer, languor, and elephant. There will be a high chance to encounter a tiger in this park.
This park is rich in biodiversity with 53 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles, 250 species
of birds including the endangered Bengal florican, sarus crane, many species of geese, duck, parakeets and 121 species of fishes. The park also includes cobras, kraits and pythons. From the park, their rushes the Geruwa, a branch of the Karnali river through a break in the hill range. The river is a home to the famous masher game, fish, gharial, marsh mugger crocodiles and the freshwater Gangetic dolphins.
The park is endorsed with fauna, flora and indigenous culture that provide a unique experience for visitors.
Due to its distinct seasons, the appropriate time to visit the park is from October to early March, because the weather is cool and pleasant with the average temperature of 25 degree Celsius. During March, April and June the temperature is very high and from July till September, the monsoon season starts causing the river to swell. |
