Day 01:
We will be reaching the in-point of the rafting after a 2-hour drive to Dolalghat. On the way, you will get to see magnificent Himalayan Ranges, hills and localities around. We will first see the Sun Kosi river at Dolalghat, from which we will actually start our rafting event. After the lunch there, we will unload all the materials, pump the raft, put on the helmet and safety jacket. After a briefing, expedition leader will acknowledge you about the commands, keywords techniques to be followed during the rafting. With all the safety and security measures considered, the raft then starts to gain pace with the Sun Koshi river.
The first day will be like warm-up with easy paddling and some high rapids that will enthrall your event. The biggest rapid you will be encountering on this day is of class 4+ rapid, which we call the "Rotten Cave". With the successful and pleasant rafting, we will set up our camp at the beach in a fine location. Our staff will prepare the dinner which we all shall enjoy under the beautiful open sky at the riverside. We will rest the night in the tented camp.
Day 02:
The second day of rafting begins after the breakfast at the campsite. After packing up the gears, we start rolling down the river, expecting the rapids on the way. This day, you will have to conquer a giant class 4+ rapid called "Meat grinder". This is a fairly straight run down the center avoiding holes on left and right. As we go on, another giant river Tama Kosi welcomes us at a confluence adding itself to the Sun Kosi. We will find a fine site to set up our camps and another fun-filled evening will be on our way.
Day 03:
Third day also begins with wonderful rafting, as we already get accustomed to the flow and rapids. We expect more high grade rapids and find the best way to go through them. This playful rafting gets even better when another confluence of the Likhu Khola comes on our way, introducing a fine class 3+ rapid called Pre-Anxiety. This soon will be followed by a long class 4 rapid called High Anxiety. This rapid creates a large hole on the left halfway down and a series of holes at the bottom. Having successfully tackled this giant, we will take some time to float around, swim a while and cherish the victory. After that, we will be camping at a fine spot.
Day 04:
This day starts with series of class 3+ rapids. Tackling a grade 3 rapid will be a piece of cake. We will sometimes be rafting rigorously, sometimes taking a breathe, sometimes screaming aloud and sometimes trying out rafting exchanging the positions with team mates. At times, we will be stopping by nearby markets to get some food and drinks. Later on the day, we will be hunting few big and interesting rapids at Harkapur, among which 2 or 3 difficult rapids coming on the way should be carefully tackled. Same as other days, we will be accommodating at our tented camps.
Day 05:
As we move down from Harkapur this day, Dudh Kosi river joins the Sun Kosi contributing a significantly great volume of water. The river widens into an arid area of gravel thereafter. You will encounter some small rapids and a fine rapid named 'Jaws'. You will be spending your night at the tented camp.
Day 06:
This is a comparatively tough day as you will be facing a good number of rapids, most of which are grade 4+ rapids. "Rhino Rock", "Jungle Corridor" and few other high grade rapids come one after another providing you the continuous thrill and excitement. Few cascades appear on the way, and you can stop a while, grasp the natural waterfalls, take pictures and rest for a while. You can even enjoy the team shower at some of the falls. With all these activities, we will be yearning for a good rest by the end of the day. Our camps will be setup and dinner prepared by the helpers. Overnight accommodation will be at tented camp.
Day 07:
We will not have to face the furious rapids as in the days before. Remaining will be the wave trains, that will not require any significant effort to conquer. If you are interested, you may try kayaking taking the help from our experts. Our team will be happy to teach you the techniques and basic kayaking skills. We are sure, you will learn it fast. As usual, we will be camping at a fine spot by the evening and cherish the last days of the event.
Day 08:
This will be the final day of the event, and to bid us goodbye, the river will offer us 4+ rapids and a series of huge standing waves. Big Arun and Tamur rivers join us a few kilometers later taking the final shape of Sapta Kosi. The volume of water will be significantly high and the river flows with powerful current. As you move flowing in the water, you will dramatically be entering the flat land of Terai and the northern plains of India. This will be the put-out point of our rafting event and end of a classic and memorable river journey. With the tired body and wonderful memories, we will put an end to our trip at around 2 PM. Loading the gear and other equipment’s, we will then drive back to Kathmandu around 4 pm from Chattra. It will take us around 12-15 hours to reach Kathmandu by bus. You may also take the domestic flight that will require one hour drive from Chattra to Biratnagar and 50 minutes flight from there to Kathmandu.
